It’s hard to think that in a town this populated that it wouldn’t be too difficult, or even almost impossible, to find a quiet route to Uni. Strangely enough, it’s not. The first route I used was a long B road. It wasn’t that nice to look at and the air quality was rubbish. Figures. After that, I decided I should take different routes, in the forty minutes I had, to find one that has some added interest, or anything that isn’t another shade of black or grey. The title of this post is a list of road names for my current route. It provides a nice alternative to the usual “this road then this road” of other routes. They are mostly residential roads, but are usually relatively quiet and aren’t as near as congested and polluted, which suits me fine. Nothing worse than having to walk at 8:30am and be bombarded with noise and car exhaust.
Now I have the “perfect” route, and have it nicely memorised, it gives me the opportunity to notice things as I’m walking along, like the 3 or so squirrels I’ve seen in the last week. Going from an area that is littered with animals (around my house at in Wiltshire) to a place with hardly any to speak of, it makes a pleasant change to see the odd squirrel now and again
– They are a pretty entertaining watch. It’s a good half hour walk each way to Uni, but I don’t mind to be honest, even if I do have to do a trip more than once on some days. If that’s the case and it means that it’s my days exercise, then that must be keeping fit, surely!
In other news, Intel are doing a lecture at Uni about placements, so I signed up for that; £10 refundable deposit, but it should be worth it. Saw one of my flatmates from last year, Lizzie, today and we had a small catch up chat before parting ways to go to our separate lecture halls; was good to hear she’s getting on well. Finally received an e-mail today saying my iPod is being shipped, so hopefully it’ll be here tomorrow *excited face* Still waiting for news of the other two things being shipped – Will I ever get to play Halo 3 *sigh*.
