Easter

Assignments are going slowly, as usual. Started the OOP assignment yesterday, sorting out classes and such, and setting up NetBeans with a new Desktop Java application. It was 5000x easier than trying to set it up in eclipse, which we had been told how to use. Unfortunately, eclipse has had an update recently and to get the Visual Editor working in that is a pain, and not obvious either.

So with three or four clicks, I had my project set up and ready for work. After messing around in that for a few minutes, I went on to search for images of Blackjack tables so I could create a background image for my Blackjack application. I found the perfect one after a few pages in on a Google image search. I loaded up Photoshop and got to work creating my own version of one of these tables; It turned out pretty well in the end and is now ready to be put into my game. I also created the chips I was going to use. 5 beautiful designs of my own - I was pretty happy with just how well they turned out.

Blackjack application is going ok, but just as slowly as all my other assignments. MSP is looking grim, as we are supposed to have teams of at least 4, and so far I have 2, so are going to talk with our lecturer who handed out this assignment and beg to let us get on with it as a 2 due to extraneous circumstances :/ RAS assignment is also slow, but can be done - Just need to get in tomorrow with my other teammate to do it.

I completed the whole 40 days without my Xbox 360 - I didn’t bother to stretch the extra week, as I was seeing if I could go without it for 40 days, not 47. By 40 days, I was pretty bored with not having it to pop on every now and again and I had to test my replacement Halo 3 disc anyway, which turned out to be scratched and cracked, as you can see by the flickr photos further down the page. If I wasn’t so lenient, I probably would have made a big deal about it, but I got it off eBay cheap for about £14, so I wasn’t too, and couldn’t be bothered with the hassle. Seller is adamant (obviously and incorrectly) that the discs were in good condition before they were sent - photos, and the fact that that kind of damage could not happen in the post, in a metal tin also,  prove otherwise. Game still plays (as far as I know), so that’s another contributing factor to not being so bothered.

F1 season has started. Obviously without a TV socket in your room you become oblivious to the world and don’t realise anything is goin on, either until someone tells you or you just spontaneously decide to look online. So I had a look at the F1 site and realised that it’s the second week in. Damn. Oh well, I was slightly encouraged to see that ol’ Lewis had come first in the first race, so all was not too bad. Second race was this morning; Obviously way too early, so I’ll be watching the reply in about an hour and a half. The drama had already begun yesterday with the officials deciding that the McClaren drivers impeded other drivers by slowing down after completing their fast laps; their attempt to “save” the car and fuel. So they lost five places instantly.

So now I am going to be oblivious to the world for almost another 2 hours, so I don’t find the result. Hmmm.
All this leads me on to how Easter Sunday doesn’t feel that much different from any other day, when you have too much work to do and you have no one or none of your family to share it with *sigh*. I should probably go to Asda tomorrow and pick up an Easter egg or two, otherwise it’ll be like “Bam!” and the “holiday” has gone for another year. This is why it is stupid for your University to have it’s Easter “holiday” 1 week after Easter has finished (-__-). The only plus side is that it is 3 weeks off.

Anyway, that’s enough moaning for now. Back to work.
