About Me

My name is Ashley Clarke, I’m 20 and a student at Bournemouth University. I am studying a four-year sandwich degree entitled “Software Product Design: Internet Applications”, but, as the course is quite flexible, I may specialise in something different in my fourth year.
When I’m not living in Bournemouth, I can be found in Bradenstoke, a small village near RAF Lyneham in Wiltshire. I have lived in the Wiltshire area for about 16 years, so it has become quite a part of my life, along with the airbase itself and the aircraft that fly there. RAF Lyneham is the “Home of the Hercules” and was also the workplace of my father for over 12 years so, if it wasn’t for him, I probably would never have had the joy of living there.
Although it may seem odd to think that many noisy aircraft flying around your house and producing a droning-like sound when not in the air isn’t annoying, it surprisingly isn’t, even if, like ours, your house is positioned a hundred or so metres from an airfield. After so many years, you start to get used to it and it also becomes a comforting sound, however, the roar of a VC10 certainly isn’t so relaxing.
